Extravaganza


IULM, 11 and 12 February, a two-day total immersion in the event's most important retail sector. Four themes (Digital Innovation, Green Retail, Pack & POP, Format), 2 plenary sessions, 4 blocks of 3 parallel seminars and over 70 speakers, these are the numbers of the most ambitious event organized by POPAI Italy.

My contribution has been divided in 4 workshops that have touched (of course) the area Digital Innovation. Many ideas, interesting experiences and the feeling that the innovation of the digital world is one of the few hopes for a sector that is experiencing a period not easy.

The digital signage, in particular, has been the most debated and there have been signs of very significant experience. Communication in the store is changing and the need to establish a more direct and effective with customers will lead to increasingly use digital communication.

Thinking back to 2002 when I suggested to POPAI the first meetings on the issue of retail technologies, it seems a century has passed, but it's just a side effect of the incredible race obtained by combining computer + telematics. If you add the effects of socio-economic and political upheaval triggered in 2008, I think that in the coming years we will not have to be bored :-)
